The impact of climate change is one of the biggest global challenges facing humanity. As the United Nations issues code red for humanity, November’s Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26) will be a defining moment for life on our planet.
At Phoenix Group we are resolute in our commitment to a green and sustainable future for all in line with our purpose of helping people secure a life of possibilities. As the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business, we will leverage our c. £300 billion of assets under administration to play our part in tackling this challenge.
Collaboration across our industry is at the heart of our journey to net zero and we are convening this forum, on October 19th, ahead of COP26 to accelerate action towards transitioning investment portfolios. We aspire to use our position as a large asset owner to integrate sustainability into every aspect of the investment ecosystem and drive sustainable change both directly and through our partnerships with asset managers, banks, brokers and other financial intermediaries.
Our event will include key note addresses from Allegra Stratton, the Prime Minister's spokesperson for COP26; Richard Curtis, filmmaker and co-founder of Make My Money Matter; and Andy Briggs, Phoenix Group CEO. We will host a panel session with our asset management partners, Abrdn, Blackrock and Invesco to consider how we turn pledges into action and make net zero portfolios a reality, and a second exploring how we can effectively collaborate across our industry to achieve net zero by the middle of the century.
