How we help our corporate charity partners

Helping others

The Group continues to recognise the importance of corporate charity partnerships, and the ability to engage colleagues in a cause that will reap multiple benefits for all involved.

Giving back is part of Phoenix's culture and our corporate partnerships provide many opportunities for colleagues to support through fundraising, volunteering and knowledge sharing.

Our UK charity partner

Through our new initiative, Caring for Carers, we’ll be partnering with a number of charities all focussed on Caring. Our first charity partnership is with Carers UK.

Carers UK is the leading national charity for unpaid carers. For 60 years they have been making life better for carers, raising their voices together to call for change and seek recognition and support.

Our partnership with Carers UK will focus on supporting our caring for carers mission, for our colleagues, customer and communities. We will be working with Carers UK on a range of activities including training, research and advocating for paid carers leave.

They provide access to a wealth of information and guidance. A dedicated helpline 0808 808 7777 from Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm and email service advice@carersuk.org to answer questions about caring. They connect carers through their Carers Connect online support community and provide wellbeing support through their Carers Active Hub.

Our second partnership is with Carers Trust, a UK charity for unpaid carers. Carers Trust partners with its network of 130 local carer organisations to provide funding and support, deliver innovative and evidence-based programmes and raise awareness and influence policy. Our partnership will focus on helping unpaid carers with employment.

The partnership will see the launch of a carers employability programme, a research project examining the cost of locking carers out of employment, plus volunteering opportunities for Phoenix Group colleagues.

  • A Carers Employability Programme with Camden Carers Centre – supporting adult carers with employment opportunities and skills. This includes supporting carers before they enter the workforce – helping to build their confidence, understanding any potential impacts on benefits, and how they can access replacement care.
  • A Research Project – focusing on the economic cost of carers being excluded from the workforce, including lost labour, earnings, productivity and tax. This will help us to better understand the value of investing in the employability of carers.
  • An Employee Volunteering Programme – engaging with Phoenix Group colleagues across the UK with a range of great volunteering opportunities at local carers centres.

Supporting charities in Europe

Ireland

In 2024 the Irish charity champions recognised some great opportunities in aligning with Phoenix’s charity partner, Samaritans. In Ireland the Samaritans do outstanding work in the community which supports our purpose. Samaritans Ireland has a shared vision to reduce death by suicide. It has 21 branches within Ireland, with 14 of these being in the Republic of Ireland, including a branch located near the Dublin office.

“We are delighted that Phoenix are partnering with Samaritans Ireland. These are difficult times for many people, and Samaritans volunteers are here for anyone struggling to cope. By partnering with Samaritans Ireland to raise awareness and funds, the Phoenix team will help us to be there to support people through the challenges they face. The Samaritans helpline is available day and night, 365 days a year thanks to our generous supporters; we’re grateful that we can include Phoenix as one, and we look forward to working with them as their employee charity partner.”
