A blueprint for a better tax treatment of pensions

Calling the current pension tax system "overly complex and poorly targeted", The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) has set out proposals in their blueprint report to reduce subsidies where they are overly generous and increasing them where saving incentives are weaker. These include changes to the 25% tax-free component, NI contributions and lifetime allowance.

In The Association of British Insurers (ABI) sponsored technical report: Care Funding, PPI analysed the impacts of the changes to the social care funding on different groups of people, and identified the population groups whose care costs will be fully funded by the state, partially funded by the state, or self-funded. ABI also published a report explaining the problems with funding social care cost with insurance and potential remedies.
