Phoenix Group partners with mindful meditation app Headspace

Person Stretching Outside

Phoenix Group, the largest life and pensions consolidator in Europe, today announces a partnership with Headspace, a global leader in mindfulness and meditation. All colleagues across the Group will be able to access hundreds of mindfulness exercises in the Headspace library for free through its app or online. They can use them to learn life changing skills that are designed to help people stress less, focus more and sleep better too.

The partnership will provide mindfulness exercises – on anything from stress to movement to sleep – to help all colleagues on their own health and wellbeing journeys. Headspace is backed by proven scientific research. Just one 15-minute meditation with Headspace can improve focus and reduce mind-wandering by 22%*.

Providing colleagues with Headspace supports Phoenix’s wellbeing strategy which aims to improve the emotional resilience of colleagues at home and work. Phoenix also has an active employee mental health network, Mind Matters, which is open to all colleagues to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. In addition, 38 Phoenix employees are trained Mental Health First Aiders who provide support and guidance on mental health issues.

In the future, colleagues will also be able to attend mindfulness sessions run by Headspace at Phoenix’s offices in Edinburgh. The on-site sessions will give colleagues the opportunity to ask questions, listen to top tips and feel supported in getting started in building healthy routines for the mind.

Sally Glarvey, Head of CSR, Diversity & Wellbeing at Phoenix Group said: “We’ve been running a trial of the Headspace app for a small number of customer operations colleagues in Edinburgh and we’ve had really positive feedback on the difference it can make. Through our new partnership with Headspace we now hope to contribute to the wellbeing and resilience of colleagues across our Group. We all need a little headspace sometimes and having an app that is always to hand will help with this.”
