May 2014 - Midlands Air Ambulance / London's Air Ambulance
A team of 10 will be embarking on the 'three peaks challenge' in June, attempting to climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in under
24 hours. Ahead of this they arranged a fundraising 'walkathon' at Phoenix's office in Wythall making use of treadmills in the coffee area. They recruited staff volunteers to walk the 42km distance, equivalent to that they will do on the exercise.
The event was a success and helped raise awareness of the Group's chosen charities of the year, as representatives were on hand at the event, supporting the walkers and selling cakes.

May 2014 - Give and Gain Day
A team of staff volunteers from our London office got involved in Business in the Community's national day of employee volunteering 'Give and Gain Day 2014' by supporting Sportsinspired.
The purpose of the event was to inspire young people through discovering sport. The day involved 250 pupils from schools based in the Hackney area. Phoenix Group volunteers joined other company volunteers and encouraged the pupils to get involved and try something new. Sports on offer ranged from cricket, touch rugby, athletics, football, basketball to volleyball.
One Phoenix volunteer commented "Give and Gain was an absolutely amazing opportunity to give something back to our local community. It looked as though the children had a fun time playing the different sports, and it was great to be involved in this event."
Give and Gain Day 2014 involved 13,300 business volunteers from 186 companies.

June 2014 - Community Litter Pick
16 members of staff from the Tax team at Wythall, took to the streets collecting litter in its local community. 11 bags of rubbish were collected over the course of the afternoon.
This initiative was only made possible through partnership with Bromsgrove District Council, who donated litter-picking and safety equipment for the event.
Peter Brown, Waste Awareness Officer for Bromsgrove District Council said: “We are pleased to have worked with Phoenix Group on this project to make the local community a better place to live and work. We are all accountable for our environment, especially for the sake of future generations, so it is great that Phoenix Group have taken steps to fulfil their responsibility as a corporation. We look forward to working with them again in the future.”
