What have we done this year?

January 2013 - Yorkhill Children's Charity

Ignis Asset Management's support for Yorkhill Children's Charity covers the next three years (2013-2015).  A fundraising target of £10,000 has been set, which will be put towards enhancing one of the three Play & Dining Rooms at the new children's hospital, part of the New South Glasgow Hospitals Project.  The room will be on a general ward, creating a multi-functional social space, designed for children that are able to leave their beds, encouraging a place to eat and play together.

March 2013 - Credit Action

20 staff volunteers from our Wythall site have been trained by Credit Action to run financial education in local schools. Aimed at 11-19 year olds, the workshops build the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to manage money well, with topics including budgeting, credit and debt, bank accounts, and saving.

Credit Action is the UK’s financial capability (financial literacy) charity. Their vision is that everyone should have the capability to be on top of their money as a part of everyday life. They empower people across the UK to build the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours, to make the most of their money throughout their lives.

A team of staff volunteers from the Wythall office, assisted their chosen charity of the year, Birmingham St Mary's Hospice with a spot of gardening and car valeting.  The Legal and Internal Audit teams worked together on this exercise, appreciating the experience and opportunity to try something different.

A spokesperson for Birmingham St Mary's Hospice commented:
"Huge thanks to staff from corporate partner, the Phoenix Group of Wythall, who spent the day doing a fantastic job tending the Hospice gardens.
The gardens are a really important space for patients and their loved ones, so the work the Phoenix volunteers did is invaluable."
